Parmesan Baguette

For the best garlic bread, use a baguette with a sturdy crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened (8 tablespoons)
  • 2 teaspoons each minced garlic and fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 ⁄4 teaspoon each dried oregano and paprika
  • 1 Italian baguette, halved lengthwise
  • 1 ⁄2 cup shredded Parmesan

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat broiler with oven rack 3–4 inches from the element.

Combine butter, garlic, parsley, salt, oregano, and paprika; spread mixture on cut sides of baguette and sprinkle with Parmesan.

Broil bread, buttered-side up, on a baking sheet until toasted, 1–3 minutes. Remove from oven, then cut into 2-inch pieces.
