Ingredients
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk, or light or heavy cream
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 6-8 slices firm white bread
- Butter or margerine or bacon fat
Preparation
Step 1
Mix first 4 ingredients well. Dip bread aslices into mixture quickly to coat both sides and brown on both sides in butter in skillet or on hot griddle. Serve at once with maple syrup.
NOTE: Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar before serving, if desired.
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon can be added to batter. Also good made with raisin, oatmeal or French bread slices.
VARIATION: 1/4 cup molasses or 1/4 cup maple syrup can be substituted for the sugar, if desired.
