A classic recipe for chocolate chip cookies. One I have used for over 25 years!

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup Shortening
  • 2/3 cup butter - soft
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tespoons vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts, optional
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • (if using the mini M&Ms, use part M&Ms and part choc chips, or all M&Ms, to taste :o)
  • Some times I use less than 2 cups if they seem too chocolately, if that is possible!!

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Mix thoughly shortening, butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla.
Stir in remaining ingredients.

**For a softer rounder cookie, add 1/2 cup flour--(I always do this)

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 8-10 mins or until light brown.....for soft cookies, be careful not to overbake. Tops may not be brown, look at the edges of the cookies.

Cool on pan for 3 or 4 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool.
