Ingredients
- Pastry for 8 or 9" pie crust
- 1/2 c-3/4c sugar
- 1/4 c flour
- 1/2 t nutmeg
- 1 t cinnamon
- dash of salt
- 6-8 c thinly sliced or coarsely chopped, peeled tart apples
- 2 T butter or margarine

Step 1
1. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry. Mix together sugar, flour, spices and salt. Stir in apples, then turn into pastry-lined pie plate. Dot with butter then cover with top crust. Cut slits in top crust then seal edges; sprinkle white sugar over top crust.
2. Cover crust edge with 3" piece of tin foil to avoid overbrowning; remove during last 15 minutes of baking. Bake 40-50 minutes til crust is golden and juices begin to bubble thru slits in crust.
