Tonia's Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • Cookie Ingredients:
  • 3 c flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 t. baking powder
  • 1 c softened margarine
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • 3 T light cream ( i use 2% milk)
  • 1 1/2 t. vanilla
  • Frosting:
  • 3 cups of powdered sugar
  • 1-2 t. vanilla
  • 1/4 c. to 1/3 c. margarine (that would be 1/2 stick or slightly more than a 1/2 STICK)
  • and add milk for consistency.

Preparation

Step 1

For Cookies:

in the mixer.....you mix dry ingredients together......then add the butter or margarine to that. cut in margarine......until well mixed. Then, in a small separate bowl (like a measuring cup for liquids) i put the egg, milk, adn vanilla. i mix those together w/ a fork, then pour that mixture into the butter/dry ingredients mixture. Blend thoroughly...., it looks like dough pretty quickly.

press the dough into the pan for the blonde brownies, or roll out w/ a rolling pin for cookies..... the recipe says to bake 5-8 min. i usually underbake them...and our fabulous convection ovens do a great job w/ these cookies. they don't 'take long at all....(if you're making cookies) if you're making the one big cookie, cook until the sides of the cookies get golden. the middle won't look totally done, but it's still YUMMMY!

you can't frost this until it's completely cool, or the frosting gets runny big time.

Frosting:

i add all these together.....and mix. then i add the milk little by little, mixing thoroughly. if the frosting gets too runny, just add more powdered sugar......if it's too thick add milk. pretty simple....
