Ingredients

• 3 3/4 cup flour
• 2 t baking powder
• 1 t baking soda
• 1/4 t salt
• 1 cup shortening
• 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 t vanilla
• 1 cup sweet milk

Preparation

Step 1

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Cream shortening and sugar in a bowl. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. Add vanilla to milk, then alternate adding dry ingredients and then milk to creamed sugar mixture and beating after each addition. Drop rounded teaspoonful of dough onto ungreased baking sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 375oF for 10-12 minutes until lightly brown at the edges.

Lavender Sugar Cookies, add 1 tablespoon lavender flowers per cup of flour.
