Farm-Style Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

• 2 c packed brown sugar
• 1 c shortening
• 1/2 c buttermilk
• 1 t vanilla
• 4 c quick-cooking oats
• 1 3/4 c flour
• 1 t baking soda
• 3/4 t salt
• 2 t cinnamon
• 1 c raisins (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Beat together brown sugar, shortening, buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients.

2. Shape dough into 1 1/2" balls. Pace 3" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten cookies with bottom of glass dipped in water. Bake til golden brown, 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
