Ingredients

    pound lean ground beef

    ounces Italian sausage, casing removed

    (10.75 ounces) can tomato puree

    (6 ounce) cans tomato paste

    Tbsp. white sugar

    tsp. salt

    clove garlic, minced

    c. cottage cheese

    eggs, beaten

    cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Tbsp. dried parsley

  • ½

    ounces sliced mozzarella cheese

Directions

1.) Bring a large pot of slightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water for 8 to 10 min. 2.) Meanwhile, prepare the sauce. In a large pot or dutch oven, cook ground beef and sausage over medium heat until brown; drain. Stir in tomato puree, tomato paste, sugar, 1 tsp. salt, garlic, and 1 1/2 Tbsp. parsley. Reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 30 min. 3.) In a bowl, stir together cottage cheese, egg, pepper, Parmesan,1 1/2 Tbsp, parley, and 1/2 tsp salt until blended. 4.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a 9 by 13 inch baking dish, layer a 3rd of each of the noodles, sliced mozzarella, cottage cheese mixture, and meat sauce. Repeat layers twice. 5.) Bake lasagna in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until hot and bubbly. Let stand for 15 min. before serving.
