Homemade Alfredo Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter (1 stick)
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 cups Half and Half
  • 6 oz. grated Parmesan cheese (shredded, not powder)
  • pepper to taste
  • basil and/or parmesan for serving (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add cream cheese and garlic powder. Stir together until smooth. Add half and half, cheese, and pepper. Stir until combined and smooth. If the sauce is thicker than you like, thin with a little milk. Serve over your favorite pasta, and season as desired.
