Deck the Halls Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 pounds hot Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 (15-ounce) cans dark red kidney beans, undrained
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation

Step 1

In soup pot, brown ground beef, sausage, onions and garlic over high heat 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently.

Add remaining ingredients; mix well and bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
