Homey Mac and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 c butter, cubed
  • 1/4 c all purpose flour
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t pepper
  • 3 c 2% milk
  • 20 oz or 5 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 T Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 t paprika

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Cook macaroni according to package directions for al dente.

Meanwhile, in a large saucepan, heat butter over med heat. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk and bring to a boil stirring constantly. Cook for 2-3 min or until thickened.

Reduce heat and stir in 3 cups cheese and Worcestershire sauce until cheese is melted.

Drain macaroni; stir into the sauce. Transfer to a greased 10 in ovenproof skillet. Bake uncovered for 20 min. Top with remaining cheese and sprinkle with paprika. Bake 5-10 min longer or until bubbly and cheese is melted.
