Ingredients
- 5 cups flour
- 1 tsp bkg. soda
- 1 tblsp. Bkg. powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tblsp. Sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 tblsp. Yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 cups buttermilk
Preparation
Step 1
Bloom yeast in the warm water. Mix the dry ingredients. Add the shortening and cut in. Then add the liquid and stir to make a very soft dough. Drop onto a floured board and knead a few gentle times. Roll out thick and cut into biscuits. Brush the tops with butter or milk. Place on pan and bake @ 400* for 12 minutes.
