Cardamom Toast

May eat as cake, or slice the cake and bake it in oven and eat as toast.

Ingredients

  • 2 Sticks Butter
  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 Cup Sour Cream
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 Teaspoons Cardamom (ground)
  • 3 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Spray 13 x 9 pan. Cream butter and sugar, add sour cream, eggs, cardamom. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Spead dough into prepared pan. Bake 40 to 50 minutes. May take out and eat as cake, or if preparing toast, lower temperature to 275. Remove pan from oven and cool on rack about 10 minutes. Invert pan and remove cake. Cut into 1 inch slices crossways. Lay slices close together on a cookie sheet. Cut each slice into 3 pieces. Bake until dry and crisp, 1 to 2 hours. Makes about 78.
