Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cups sugar
- 1 cups cocoa
- 1/2 TBS baking soda
- 1/2 TBS nutmeg
- 1 TBS cinnamon
- 1/2 TBS cloves
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 2 sticks oleo (butter or lard)
- 1 cups raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
- Chocolate Fudge Frosting (aka SAUCE!)
- YOU WILL HAVE EXTRA FROSTING
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup shortening (butter)
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix the dry ingredients together: Flour, sugar, cocoa, soda, spices.
Put the egg in a cup and pour the milk over it to make 1 cups Melt the oleo (butter or whatever you’re using). Mix well with the dry ingredients.
Add the raisins and nuts. Mix well and roll into 3/4 inch to 1 inch balls. Bake for 8 – 10 minutes. Do not over bake. 9 minutes to be safe.
Chocolate Fudge Frosting:
Bring water to a boil, remove from heat and stir in shortening and corn syrup. Add the sugar, cocoa, salt and vanilla. Mix completely until smooth.
Dip the cooled cookies into the frosting.
