To clarify butter, melt 1/2 cup butter (1 stick) in a saucepan, then simmer it over low heat. Remove the pan from the heat. Skim off the butter solids that have risen to the top. Set aside for about 10 minutes, then slowly pour the clear butter that has risen to the top into a measuring cup, making sure to leave behind the milk solids at the bottom of the pan.
