Beef & Broccoli

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp. sherry
  • 4 tbsp. soya sauce
  • 2 tsp. white sugar
  • 1 bunch fresh broccoli
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Preparation

Step 1

Freeze meat until firm for easy slicing (30 minutes). Cut across grain into thin slices. Combine meat, cornstarch, sherry, soya sauce and sugar in bowl. Trim tough ends off broccoli; cut off outer layer of stalks. Cut stalks into pieces 3" long by 1/2" thick. Cut onions into wedges Heat wok over high heat. Add 2 tbsp. oil; swirl to coat pan. Stir fry broccoli and onion for 1 minute. Sprinkle with sale; add water. Cover and cook for 3 minutes or until broccoli is tender-crisp. Remove veggies. Reheat pan and remaining oil. Fry meat until brown. Return veggies and heat through.
