Brunch Casserole

Ingredients

  • 4 tbls. butter (softened)
  • 6 slices day old white bread
  • 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 lb. Oscar Meyer cooked sausage patties (found in the deli section)
  • 12 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup whole milk

Preparation

Step 1

Spread 2 tbls. soft butter over bottom and sides of a 9 X 13 casserole or baking dish.

Melt remaining butter.
Cut bread into bite size pieces (cubes) and spread evenly over the bottom of the casserole dish so the bottom is totally covered.
Brush bread cubes with remaining 2 tbls. of melted butter.
Spread 1 1/2 cup of the shredded cheese evenly over the bread layer.
Cut the already cooked sausage patties into bite-sized pieces and spread evenly over the cheese layer.

Evenly spread the remaining cheese over the sausage layer.
Beat the eggs, cream, and milk until well blended and pour evenly over the casserole.
Cover with saran wrap and refrigerate overnight.

The next morning, bake at 325 degrees for one hour. Makes 9-12 servings.
