Ham and Cheese Family Omelet

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • salt
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 3/4 oz (50g) ham, chopped
  • 2 1/2 oz (75g) grated cheese, such as cheddar or monterey jack

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the broiler to its highest setting. Beat the eggs and cream in a bowl and season well.

Heat the butter in a 10 in heavy bottomed, ovenproof frying pan over medium heat. When it is bubbling, pour in the egg mixture. Cook the omelet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, moving it gently with a spatula.

When the edges of the omelet start to set, take it off the heat. Scatter in the ham and cheese.

Transfer the pan to the boiler and cook for 2-3 minutes until the top has set and is golden brown. Cut into wedges to serve.
