Ingredients

  • CAKE:

  • ½

    lb butter or margarine

  • ½

    cup shortening

  • 3

    cups sugar

  • 5

    eggs

  • 3

    cups plain flour

  • ½

    teaspoon baking powder

  • ¼

    teaspoon salt

  • ½

    cup cocoa

  • 1-¼

    cup milk

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla

  • ICING:

  • 1

    stick butter or margarine

  • 4

    tablespoons cocoa

  • 6

    tablespoons milk

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla

  • 1

    boc powdered sugar

Directions

CAKE: Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time and blend well. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Beat until creamy. Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour and 25 minutes at 325 degrees. ICING: PLace all ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add 1 box powdered sugar. Spread on cake.
