Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar,divided
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 jar (12 oz) raspberry jelly
  • 1 cup semiwseet chocolate mini chips
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups coarsely ground hazelnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy.

Add egg yolks to butter mixture; beat until smooth. Stir in flour until well blended.

Press dough into bottom of a greased 10 x 15 inch jellyroll pan.

Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Spread jelly over hot crust; sprinkle chocolate chips over jelly.

Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add remaining 2 cups sugar and salt; beat until stiff peaks form. Fold in hazelnuts.

Gently spread egg white mixture over chocolate layer. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned on top.

Cool completely in pan. Cut into 2 inch squares. Store in an airtight container.
