Knobby Apple Cake

This cake doesn't have a lot of batter-just enough to coat apples. Spreading it in the pan is like spreading concrete, but it makes a very moist cake.

Ingredients

• 1 cup Sugar
• 1/4 cup Shortening
• 1 Egg
• 3 cups Apples ; chunky dice
• 1 cup Flour
• 1/4 cup Nuts ; chopped
• 1 teaspoon Vanilla
• 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon Salt
• 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
• 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and mix. Add apples, vanilla and dry ingredients. Mix together - a very thick batter!

Grease 8" square pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
