Bahn Mi Deliciousness!

I admit it….I am obsessed with easy foods that are packed with flavors and Bahn Mi is my new go to dinner sandwich! At first I was a little nervous when using some slightly unusual ingredients and not quite knowing what to do with the sriracha and fish sauce. I was shocked though to find how easy this sandwich was to make and Estus was even more surprised to find out how delicious everything was. I was first introduced to the delicious Bahn Mi a couple of months ago by my foodie coworkers. They were raving about all Vietnamese food and told me that I just had to try this sandwich. Boy, was I hooked!

I googled the word Bahn mi because of my endless curiosity and came up with a very interesting description.  According to Wikipedia, Bánh mìVietnamese pronunciation: [ɓǎɲ mî]) is a Vietnamese term for all kinds of bread. Bread, or more specifically the baguette, was introduced by the French during its colonial period. The bread most commonly found in Vietnam is a single serving baguette, therefore the term bánh mì is synonymous with this type of bread.

My Bahn Mi was a little bit different that the usual. I used a pork loin because they are easy to find. I started out by marinating the pork loin in garlic, soy sauce, fish sauce, and pepper all day while I was at work. I then seared all sides of the pork loin to make sure I created a nice crust. Finally, I baked the pork loin in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes and it came out perfectly!

I almost marinated the cucumber and carrot mixture in some soy sauce and rice vinegar to make sure the flavors perfectly blended. I added some of the Sriracha to the mayo to make sure I had a little bit of a kick and wow! The sandwich was perfect. The flavors are great together with the perfect crunch from the baguette.
