Ingredients

  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/4 cup sorghum (may substitute molasses)
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup rye flour
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup warm water

Preparation

Step 1

*“I modified a family favorite recipe for Rye Bread, which can be made in a bread making machine.”*

1. Into a bread machine baking pan, place water, butter, brown sugar, salt and
sorghum.
2. Add flour and rye flour.
3. Sprinkle yeast over flour.
4. Insert pan into bread machine and follow machine baking instructions.

Note: For a prettier loaf, I use the dough setting on the machine. When completed, turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Shape into a loaf and place in a bread plan. Cover and allow to rest 15 minutes. Bake in a 350 degree oven till done, approximately 1 hour.
