Ingredients

  • BROWNIE LAYER
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 3/8 cup cocoa
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/8 cup flour
  • 3/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • SOPAPILLA CHEESECAKE LAYER
  • 2 (8 ounce) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups sugar, divided
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla, divided
  • 1 (8 ounce) can crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter
  • ground cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

BROWNIE LAYER
1. Melt butter. Dissolve cocoa in butter.
2. Add eggs (beaten) and sugar to cocoa mixture.
3. Beat in flour and vanilla (and dash of salt, if desired).
4. Add chocolate chips and pecans.
5. Layer in a greased and "cocoa floured" 9 x 13 inch metal pan.

SOPAPILLA LAYER
1. Blend together, with mixer, softened cream cheese, 1 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoons vanilla.
2. Spread cheese mixture evenly over the brownie layer - leave a 1/8 inch opening around edge with no cheese.
3. Stretch the can of crescent rolls over the cream cheese mixture to form a top crust.
4. Melt oleo, blending in 1 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
5. Pour evenly over the crescent roll crust and sprinkle generously with cinnamon.
6. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes until bubbling and brownie is cooked.
7. Let cool and refrigerate before cutting into squares.
