Food Dye
Whipped Cream
Purple: 9 red, 6 blue
Blue: 12
Green: 12
Yellow: 12
Orange: 12 yellow, 4 red

Step 1

Prepare white cake mix, then divide the batter evenly among six small bowls. Following the accompanying chart, dye each bowl of a batter a rainbow color.

Line 16 muffin pan wells with baking cups. Evenly distribute the purple batter among the cups, then blue, and so on. As you go gently spread each layer of batter with the back of a spoon to cover the color underneath.

Bake cupcakes according to recipe directions. Before serving, remove paper wrapping and if you like top each cupcake with a whipped cream cloud.
