Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • Canola/vegetable/or corn oil for frying
  • 1 package hot dogs

Preparation

Step 1

In a medium bowl, stir together cornmeal, flour, salt, sugar and baking powder. Use fork and whisk in the egg and milk.

Fryer: Preheat your oil to 365 degrees.
OR
Stovetop: Preheat oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat.

Pat each hot dog dry on paper towel, and cut in half. Then roll hot dogs in batter until well coated. Fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
