Baked Apple French Toast PRINT

|3||large green apples (green, optional)|
|12||oz. cream cheese|
|1||(½ cup) stick butter|
|12||slices firm bread|
|½||cup brown sugar|
|cinnamon to taste|
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Butter 13 X 9 baking pan; core and cut apples into thin wedges, leaving skin on.
Melt butter, brown sugar and 1 tbs water in skillet; add apples cook stirring 2 to 3 minutes; transfer to baking dish and let cool.
Cut cream cheese into cubes and arrange over apples to cover.
In large mixing bowl beat together eggs, milk and vanilla; pour egg mixture over bread to soak everything; sprinkle with cinnamon.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes until golden and puffed.
Cook 10 minutes and serve.
