Ingredients

  • 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup {2oz} unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons {1 3/8oz} maple syrup
  • 2 cups {8oz} confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup {4oz} toasted walnut pieces

Preparation

Step 1

Beat cream cheese and butter together. Beat in maple syrup and stir well, then mix in the confectioners' sugar. Adjust the consistency of the frosting with additional maple syrup or confectioners' sugar, if necessary; it should be nicely spreadable. Frost the cake and sprinkle with the toasted walnuts. Cut into bars; a pizza wheel works well for this chore.

Makes enough for a 13x9" pan.
