Halloween was just the start of the year’s main eating season. Before you can finish all that pesky candy it’s Thanksgiving. Then it only takes a few of your favorite holiday goodies to start you on that path of overindulgence.
Don’t get me wrong – there’s no reason to deny yourself. It’s good to splurge now and then. My issue crops up once my favorites are everywhere for 2 or 3 months. It goes from being a treat to being a bad habit that I have to undo every January. This year I plan to have a different New year’s resolution other than detox from my addiction to sugar.
So, how can I will I win over cookies and candy this year? My answer is oatmeal. It’s good for you and it can be doctored up to fulfill your deepest chocolate cravings! These oatmeals can be just as tempting as your favorite holiday treat. Some of these do have sugar in them, but you can replace it with your favorite natural sweetener like agave, stevia, even maple syrup.
There is no reason for the holidays to mess with your eating plan. Just start the morning off with one of these sweet and chocolaty bowl of oats.
It’s even easier if you use a 1 ½ to 2 quart slow cooker, plus you get to wake up to a different satisfying chocolate oatmeal breakfast every morning!
