Everything’s Coming Up Rosés!

The hills are awash with vibrant yellow mustard flowers near my house. You can’t live in California and not take notice of our spectacular wildflower displays each spring. Orange poppies and purple lupine are mingled with the yellow mustard blooms creating an abstract canvas that can take your breath away. It’s one of my favorite things about living in this great state.
However, when it comes to the prolific mustard blossom we have another region of the world to thank for our spectacular annual parade of color: The Mediterranean region. Which includes the iconic Provence area of southeastern France. The similarities between Provence and California go well beyond climate. But it’s the similarity of weather that allows the mustard plant to flourish and makes my mind automatically turns to another icon of the French countryside– rosé wine. more »
